The team at Cornish is always seeking creative ways to work collaboratively with our city’s deeply talented restauranteurs, retailers, artists, entertainers and entrepreneurs. After all, these are the wonderful people who make our community what it is and make us proud to call Providence our home.
This past summer we were presented with the opportunity to assist Ellen Gracelyn and her team at Ellie’s as they unexpectedly found themselves in need of a new home, and quickly. Ellen is a long time partner of Cornish, first with her award winning restaurant at Gracie’s and then again with the first incarnation of Ellie’s, which was located originally in the Biltmore Garage building on Washington Street. Her team’s talent is no secret and their place in the downtown community is solidly established and highly valued. There was no question we would be doing everything we could to keep this wonderful business operating in the downtown.
Today, three months into enjoying the new Ellie’s (now relocated to the Alice Building on Westminster Street – read more), we reflect on the journey that got us here. As we watch the snowflakes fall from inside of Ellie’s and glance at the holiday market at Grant’s Block filled with festivities, we’re reminded of the Boston Globe article from last fall, What it Feels Like When Your Neighborhood and Landlord Have Your Back and Ellen’s kind words. The downtown community is a sum of its parts and we’re so very glad the Ellie’s team are still here and sharing their talents with us this holiday season.
