Two, in fact.

In Spring of 2023, Cornish Associates was honored by Grown Smart RI with their 2023 Outstanding Smart Growth Project Award for our work on the redevelopment of the Trayne, Lapham and WIT projects. Our team was recognized amongst an outstanding group of leaders in Rhode Island and it was an incredible honor to be included. We were fortunate to be led by Union Studios Architects on these three projects.

In 2021, the Boy Scouts of America: Narragansett Council honored Buff Chace with their Distinguished Citizens Award. The award honors individuals who share Scouting’s belief in leadership, determination and values, and have contributed significantly to the growth and vitality to our community. It was a tremendous honor to be the recipient of this important award and to have the opportunity to meet many members of the Boy Scouts of America Narragansett Council.

Nordblom Company and Cornish Associates are pleased to announce their joint purchase of the historic Providence Journal Building located at 75 Fountain Street in the heart of downtown Providence, Rhode Island. This purchase also includes two adjoining parking lots at 78 Fountain Street and 1 Eddy Street. The Seller was A.H. Belo, who had owned these three properties and the newspaper until its sale in late 2014. The CBRE team, lead by Senior Vice President/Partner Alden Anderson, oversaw the transaction.

Providence, RI One of the first new construction apartment buildings in over a generation has opened in downtown. Nightingale has welcomed its first residents. The newly constructed $54 million, 143-unit apartment community is in the walkable downtown. In addition to five stories of apartments, Nightingale contains 11,500 s/f of ground-level retail space, residential amenities, the latest smart building technology, and original local artwork.

In 2011, Buff Chace and the team at Cornish Associates began work on this project as a way to honor the individuals who had been working together in the downtown district since the early 1990’s. Buff enlisted the skills of photographer Jim Hooper to design and implement the project which consisted of portrait photography of 122 members of the downtown Providence community, an exhibit showcasing the portraits and a published book titled, The Providence Portrait Project.
